It started with my great-grandfather Albert St John when Arizona was just a territory. He first brought Brown Swiss cattle to Arizona and owned and operated St John's Dairy until the 1980's. My Grandfather Bert "Sonny" St John milked cows and raised calves until his passing. My father Vernon St John raised cattle all of his life, he served our country in the US military for a period of time, and was a member of the FFA. He worked many years selling seamen and breeding cattle. He started his Akaushi herd after his retirement and saw the health benefits of the meat. He always had a passion for providing quality meat to his customers.
I have been around cattle all of my life, I was part of 4-H growing up and had my own herd of dairy cattle that I showed at the State Fair and County Fairs every year. I decided to carry on my family’s tradition of raising cattle and selling quality beef directly from the farm to your dinner table. My passion is to provide quality beef to people that they can enjoy with their family.
Our family has fed Arizona's families for four generations let us feed yours.
Akaushi(Red Wagyu) originated from Japan they are one of the Wagyu breeds of cattle. The beef is a unique composition and ratio of healthy fats which helps to lower cholesterol and support weight loss. Our Akaushi Beef is all natural and has no added hormones. We only feed a mixture of hays such as Bermuda grass, and alfalfa, and barley.
The American Heart Association notes this can lead to lower cholesterol, the prevention of coronary heart disease and weight loss. Wagyu beef has a high concentration of monounsaturated fats, which your body can break down easily. These monounsaturated fatty acids(known as MUFA's) also lower the amount of low-density lipoproteins or LDL's in your system. The ratio of unsaturated fats to saturated fats in Red Wagyu beef is higher than that in almost any other meat. Thanks to the uniquely marbled fat 100 percent Wagyu beef has a higher concentration of MUFAs, those monounsaturated fatty acids, than any other meat in the country. Eating meats high in MUFAs is proven to be healthier than a diet of lean meats.
A compound found in olive oil that the USDA touts as good for the heart. Oleic acid is what gives our beef its unique buttery taste. The boiling point of the Red Wagyu fat is 98 degrees so the fat melts into the meat giving it that delicious taste. Also Red Wagyu is high in Omega-3s and Omega-6s which support brain, heart, and lung function.
